How Are Payments Handled? WFS-CCM will pay the child care center or home each month for you child's care. You may be required to pay part of the cost. If so, you will pay it to the center or home. WFS-CCM will monitor your child's attendance. If your child has too many absences or the care is misused, TWC may stop paying for it.
Will I Be On a Waiting List? If funding is not available, your name will be placed on a central computerized waiting list. The computer will search the list each night and notify you when funding has become available. WFS-CCM also keeps a waiting list for families who are already receiving TWC-paid care but would like to switch to particular providers when they have openings.
Can I Arrange Child Care Myself? You may be able to choose a child care provider not on the WFS-CCM computer list, including a relative of your child. A WFS-CCM client services worker can tell you if you are eligible. If you choose an eligible child care provider on the WFS-CCM computer list, WFS-CCM will pay the provider directly. You will be responsible for any other legal requirements related to hiring the provider.
What Are My Rights? TWC assistance and services are available to any eligible person without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, or political belief.
Finding Child Care: What to Ask and What to Look For.
Deciding who will take care of your child while you're at work or school can be a hard job. You want your child to be safe and happy when you can't be there. The child-care center or home you choose should be a place where your child can learn, play, and feel secure.
A visit to a child care center or home you are considering can be very helpful. Before you go, try to make an appointment. This will allow the person you need to talk with to set aside plenty of time to spend with you. Take this guide with you when you visit a child care center or home. You might want to jot down notes on each question. Later you can compare the places you visited and make a good choice.
