Who are the Veterans Education Coordinators?

A student veterans' lifestyle presents unique and sometimes difficult challenges while transitioning from military to civilian culture.  Education Coordinators develop and or assist Institutions of Higher Education in developing programs which provide additional assistance to veterans based on the unique needs of veterans and their family members.  In order to accomplish this, VECs work with institutions of higher education to create awareness of educational programs, encourage participation in veterans' educational programs, promote the establishment of a student veterans group on each campus, and inform veterans and communities of nontraditional educational opportunities.

Over 89,000 service members will be separating from service in Texas over the next 5 years.  Statistics show that as many as half or more veterans will pursue a career unrelated to their military specialty.  Our VECs are available to assist these veterans and their family members with making informed decisions when deciding how to use the educational benefits earned.
