Having questions is normal and expected so we've taken the time to compile a few of our most frequently asked questions to help address your concerns.

There is no cost, but you do need to meet eligibility requirements.

Eligibility criteria for Brownsville ISD Adult Continuing Education require the following: Must provide
proof of Resident of Cameron County, Current state or government issued picture ID, Social Security
Card (if social security number has been issued), Minimum age of 17 years. Note: 17-21 year olds
must bring withdrawal letter from last school attended and 17-18 year olds require a birth certificate
and accompanied by parent/legal guardian to sign registration authorization form. Provide Letter of
Eligibility of any government assistance (WIC, Chips, Housing, Medicaid, Food stamps) if applicable.

Call our office at 956-548- 8175 to schedule an appointment or attend our upcoming semester registrations on November 6-10, 2017 or February 19-21, 2018 throughout Cameron County.

GED orientation takes place when you come in to register. Registration takes place at 708 Palm Blvd. in Brownsville. Be prepared to stay at least 4 hours. You will attend orientation and take placement tests. You need to bring all required documentation on that day.

The following classes are available:

Brownsville: 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday,
evening 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday-Wednesday

Harlingen: 8:30 am -11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday & 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday

Port Isabel: 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday

The time it takes to attain your GED is different for everyone. It depends on your individual progress.

Brownsville ISD Adult Continuing Education does not offer classes in Spanish. However, Proyecto Juan Diego in Brownsville does offer GED in Spanish. You may contact Proyecto Juan Diego at (956) 542-2488.
